General enquiries

As well as there being a record of every child who was here, there are also records charting the life of ‘The Orphan Homes of Scotland’ from its beginning in 1878 to the organisation it is today. The annual reports from 1872 give a wealth of detail about the development of the Homes. These are not yet available on-line but if you contact us to arrange a time to visit we can ensure that you will be able to view those for the years in which you are interested. Various other documents and memorabilia are stored within our archives and specific items can be viewed by appointment.

Enquiries are sometimes made by descendents about a forebear who worked in the Homes. No personal records exist for these people, however, depending on the position they held, there may be mention of them in annual reports.
