Go4IT Internet Club is for adults with disabilities. The club supports each adult (member) to learn basic computer skills based on their own personal needs and choices.  Members decide what they want to do in each session and we support and guide them.

As well as providing IT Training and support, each volunteer spends time getting to know the person they are supporting and building up trust and understanding of each other.

To provide much needed one to one support and training on computing for Adults with Disabilities who may have missed out on this when they were younger and IT was not part of the education curriculum.

Supporting club members to use the computer based on their needs and choices.

Attending meetings, events (if relevant), training, Keeping a record of members progress, Setting out the tea trolley at break time, tidying it away, and washing dishes before the end of the session.

The key quality we are looking for is someone who is reliable and wants to support and help others. We are looking for someone with patience and good listening and communication skills.

Additional

Very basic computers skills and some experience of using a computer (You will be supported by the staff when you are at the club).

This would happen every Friday either 10:30 – 12:30 or 2-4 however we ask you to arrive 15 mins early and to stay on for 15 mins to help write up records and reset the room.  Commitment would be for 2.5 hours a week.

Staff and other volunteers will be in the room to support you. We would ask you to bring a member of staff along at first as additional support.. We can review this at a later date.

There is an induction programme which we will take you through. This includes some basic training such as First Aid and Epilepsy Awareness. The rest will be on the job training.

The selection process would be to initially complete an application form, informal meeting, disclosure and reference checks.
