Volunteer who enjoys swimming

Quarriers Rivendell, Quarriers Village

Quarriers Rivendell is a six bedded residential unit for six young people aged 6 and 15 years of age. Two volunteers would be required, one for each of the young people on separate occassions after school.

The purpose of the role would be to work with another member of staff supporting a young person to go to the swimming baths. This will enable the young person(s) to access an activity they enjoy on a regular basis.

The main tasks will be to:

  • support the young person to the swimming baths and back in project transport
  • help the young person with dressing and undressing
  • support the young person whilst in the water
  • The volunteers would need to have some knowledge of working with children and young
  • people with complex needs. Some experience in challenging behaviour would be helpful but not essential as in-house training will be provided.

Dates and times can be agreed with the volunteer but the activity needs to take place 3-4 hours once a fortnight. Due to the nature of the activity and project would prefer the volunteer to be over 20 years of age and male. The volunteer would need to use own transport to access Quarriers Village at Bridge of Weir or use the local bus service.
