Staff, family and friends of Quarriers Quest Project, in Thornliebank, polished off their Easter eggs to take part in an Abseil off the Holiday Inn at Glasgow Airport last Sunday.
So far they have raised over £1000 for the project, which provides support for young people experiencing difficulties in mainstream education. The money raised will go towards a trip to the Loningdale Centre in Biggar, which will provide a unique opportunity for the children to build self-confidence and stronger relationships.
Other members of the team, including Jennifer Dykes, are taking part in Freefall @ Finnieston to raise more money to give these children life-changing experiences. Jennifer, from Glasgow, said, "I have never done an abseil or anything like this before and I'm feeling slightly apprehensive about it, so I've roped in my dad and my boyfriend. My dad works between the Southern General and Strathclyde University so hopefully he will raise lots of sponsorship for our project."
Gillian Thomson, Quarriers Events Organiser said, "If you would like to join Jennifer in a freefall abseil at the Finnieston Crane on Sunday 11th May, or raise funds for the Quest project please get in touch and you too could be roped in!!!"
Quarriers, established in 1871, is Scotland's third largest social care charity. We support hundreds of children with special needs, families living in areas of social and economic deprivation, young people who find themselves homeless, and adults whose disabilities mean that they need special support.
