Quarriers Mavisbank, providing respite care for adults with disabilities in Glasgow, has raised over £7200 to replace all its sensory equipment.
The service, based in Kinningpark, Glasgow, provides a vital lifeline to around 90 families in the area who are caring for a relative with complex learning and physical disabilities, by providing a regular respite service. With thanks to the generosity of local charitable trusts and the dedication of staff, a room at Mavisbank has been fully kitted out with new sensory equipment. The room has been transformed into a sensory haven where residents can go to relax, chill out and enjoy the therapeutic benefits that sensory stimulation brings.
Grants were kindly received from Miss D M Dawson’s Trust, The Bethesda Trust, The Kennyhill Bequest Fund with additional money raised from Michelle Simpson, a member of staff who undertook a gruelling fundraising trek through Peru.
Rose Cusick, project manager at Mavisbank, said: “We are very grateful to everyone who has contributed to our appeal. We have transformed a room into a sensory haven which provides a stimulating and supportive environment for the people we support and meets their needs in the best possible way.”
