Beaumonds provides short term and regular breaks for children and young people with a learning and/or physical disability living in the Bath & North East Somerset Area. The project is a registered Children's home with Ofsted (The Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services & Skills) and is registered for children from 5-18 years of age, although young people do not usually attend Beaumonds until reaching 8 years of age.
The project currently provides a service to more than 20 young people, of which five can be at any one time for an overnight stay. The project offers to a home away from home for the young people, where they can feel relaxed and have all their individual needs met. The project also aims to give them opportunities, which they may not experience elsewhere, such as outings and indoor play activities, within a safe and supportive environment. Staffing levels are usually 3 staff to 5 children in order to provide to level of support required, although this may vary dependant on the needs of individual young people.
Referrals are received from the local Disabled Children's Team (tel 01225-825307) after an assessment has been made of the needs of both the young person and their family.
