Ross and Robbie at Riverview

Riverview is one of Quarriers projects providing respite for adults with learning and physical disabilities. The project supports approximately 100 people, from 19 – 60 years of age, with a diverse range and level of disability. The unit can provide for a maximum of 10.

Ross Fairlie has volunteered with Riverview since September 2007, and he comes in for four hours once a month on a Sunday afternoon. Ross is 16 years old and Margo the Manager at Riverview feels it is good for the service users as they enjoy being around the younger age group and they bring fresh insights and ideas. “It is very positive for the service users, a fresh young face coming into project and not just paid staff. There is good interaction with Ross and the service users and Robbie is a good example of that.”

From that smile I think Robbie is winning the game! Never mind Ross there’s always next time.

“I was a bit apprehensive when I started volunteering—but since then I’ve grown to really enjoy it and look forward to coming.

Volunteering here has given me everything I wanted from it and more. The staff have been brilliant and have made this awesome experience all the more enjoyable.
