Renfrewshire Head Injury Service
Quarriers Renfrewshire Head Injury Service works with people in the Renfrewshire area who are aged between 17 and 64 who have experienced an acquired head injury and/or their families and carers.
We provide brain injury awareness and strategies to help the person on a daily basis fulfill their goals realistically. We do this by working with the person, their family and carers either within groups or on a one to one basis to overcome the short and long term effects of their injury.
This includes practical and emotional support following hospital discharge, advocacy, advice and support with vocational and employment opportunities and helping people to cope with activities of daily living.
The service aims to provide a co-ordinated approach to meet the needs of people and carers affected by acquired brain injury.
There is excellent open communication between all the services involved. We have direct involvement in planning processes therefore being able to reflect the experiences of the people we support in a meaningful way. The service is jointly managed by Quarriers and Renfrewshire Social Work Department.
The Service accepts telephone referrals from any source, for example:
- The person with the brain injury
- Carers, friends and family
- Social Work Department
- GP’s
- Health professionals
