Children & Young People's Inclusion Project
The Inclusion team provides support to children and young people throughout Quarriers, to have their voices heard in issues which affect them, be part of the Voices In Projects group, get involved in campaigns including improving housing choices and benefits inequalities, and lobby Parliament in campaigns that matter to them. We also support young people to be representatives of the organisation in the Scottish Youth Parliament. We welcome all young people and actively target those most difficult to reach and engage.
We are involved in a very exciting work exchange funded by the European Union, which takes young people, aged 18-25, for a 9 week work placement in Holland. In return, we accommodate young Dutch people in Scotland for the same purpose. The young people benefit by gaining an insight into the workplace, improving their skills, being part of a team and increasing independence by living with other young people in a group house. All young people will achieve an “Excellence” Millenium Volunteer Award for over 200 hours of volunteering and be far closer to the labour market on their return.
The Inclusion team aims to support all children and young people to increase their confidence and skills by having their voices heard, which in turn will hopefully increase the opportunities they are offered in life.
Our Inclusion Worker is also involved in coaching the women’s Homeless World Cup teams, which offers a great many benefits around health, well being and travelling to different countries as part of the team.
