Glasgow South West Carers Centre

Glasgow South West Carers’ Centre was established in 2002 and, along with Greater Pollok Carers’ Centre, provides support to carers within the Glasgow South CHP authority.  The Centre is funded by Glasgow City Council as part of their Joint Carers’ Strategy and is managed by Quarriers.

A carer is someone who, without payment, provides help and support to a partner, child, relative, friend or neighbour who could not manage without their help.  This could be due to age, frailty, physical or mental illness, addiction, disability or medical condition.

The aim of the Carers’ Centre is to provide carers with practical help and emotional support.  We offer the following core services to carers:

1. Information and advice
2. Emotional support and a listening ear
3. Income maximisation
4. Training and activities for carers
5. Help for carers to have their voice heard

We also provide support for young carers who are between the ages of 8 and 18 years old.  The Young Carers’ Worker provides information and support either on a one-to-one basis or through groups.
Carers are welcome to contact the centre directly or ask their GP, Social Worker, Health Visitor, Occupational Therapist etc to pass on their details.

Support is personalised to meet the needs of individual carers and carers can contact the centre at different times in their caring journey as and when they feel that they need assistance.
